An Ultimate Google Data Studio Report (Free Template)

Data is one of the best and unique medicine which can help to improve the business success rate. Not knowing the best way to read, understand, and apply data can actually be costing your business like losing your revenue opportunities, lower productivity, and efficiency, loss of relevant clients or customers, and more.

For example, the Forrester report says “On average, between 60% and 73% of all data within an enterprise goes unused for analytics. That’s unacceptable in an age where deeper actionable insights, especially about customers are a competitive necessity”. Now if you don’t want to fall in that category you need to read this blog.

Let’s Understand

In Google Data Studio, there are different charts used to display data for you. One of the best charts which I mostly use in almost every Google Data Studio report is Time Series Chart

After connecting with a data source click on add a chart and then from the drop-down you can select time series.

For example, you are getting great traffic on your site from different countries and now you want to leverage the benefits of this traffic by-

  1. Running ads campaign
  2. Social posting
  3. Discount offers
  4. Posting a blog etc.

But for that, you should understand the flow of your traffic like, when is the right time to initiate the right operation and take full advantage of your visitor, but if we are not analyzing in a proper way then it will be difficult for you to improve your business and take you to the next level. It’s all about timezone.

Let us suppose you are receiving a good amount of organic traffic, now you want to run ads to speed up your business. You have a small budget for Ad spending. You set the total budget and started a campaign, you have analyzed that you are receiving a large amount of traffic from the US so you set your campaign targeting the US audience.

As we know that google charges per click and you did not notice the proper visiting time of your user, what will happen now is that you may lose all your budget possibly before the peak time of user engagement. Now how to solve this

Solution

I have created a Google Data Studio report with the help of a time-series graph,

Let go deeper with one of my Google Data Studio reports and see how we can resolve the issues.

This is the data of US visitors according to the Indian time zone. Now we can easily analyze that the peak time of user engagement is somewhere starting from 4 pm to 8 am. Now you have a time frame of 16 hrs to run your ad, for small budge, this data is more relevant and accurate, and that will also reflect in your ad performance. If you are thinking that this data can help you to run your ad campaign and can generate high ROAS that is true but what if I say that this is not enough.

With Google Data Studio you can analyze a lot more than this, as I mentioned above that Google Data Studio provides cutting edge solutions so let’s see what more we can get from this.

This is one of my client’s data, showing the peak time when visitors coming from the US are more likely to purchase a particular product and that is starting from 8 pm to 2 am. Now you can run your ad only for 7 peak hrs which will help to improve your ROAS and boost your business.

Note: the Aforementioned is based on my past observations. This surely vary according to your business and marketing context.

Similarly, you can create more reports which will help you to measure the weak points.

Download the Google Data Studio Report at the end of this post.

This Google Data Studio Report will also help you to perform different operations like a post sharing on social media, run your email campaign and optimize your ads, proper analyzing of the site visitors, etc.

Google Data Studio Report Template

This is the screenshot of the report created in Google Data Studio.

Let’s start with the filters available at the top of the report

Filters

These filters will help you to understand user visits from a specific country, source & medium, and for a specific product.

Hours in a day

The time-series graph below is providing an report that will help you to understand the most engaging hours in a day, from a visitor’s point of view and product revenue as well. This report can be modified differently for different countries like:

For example- you are in India and your site visitors are mostly from the United State, so maybe the most engaging hours for your site is somewhere between 8 pm and 6 am (according to Indian time zone).

So with the help of filters, you can easily understand the visitor engagement from different countries for different products and more.

Day of the week

Moving ahead, the above graph indicates the visitor’s engagement on each day of the week.  This report is quite interesting because you can easily understand the flow of traffic with this report.

For example – our site is dealing with B2B business so according to that Saturday and Sunday is low traffic day, but if you are in the field of B2C then these stats would be the opposite.

Hence, it is supportive for you to take different actions like:

  • Best day in a week to post a blog
  • Which day is best to post on social media
  • Best day in a week to run ads etc.

Month of the year

This last graph indicates the number of visitors coming in the month of the year.

In marketing, timing is what makes a difference between you and your success.
